When leads slow down, the website gets blamed first. Sometimes that's right. Often the site is fine and the problem is who is arriving, or what happens after they do.
Start with three numbers
- How many people visit in a month, and where from
- What share of them call, text or submit a form
- What share of those turn into customers
If traffic is low, a redesign won't help much by itself. If traffic is healthy and few visitors act, the site probably is the problem. If many act and few buy, the problem is probably follow-up or fit.
Signs the website needs work
- It loads slowly, especially on a phone
- A stranger can not tell what you do in ten seconds
- There is no clear next step on the page
- Pages are thin, duplicated or missing for key services
- It was built on a template with generic language
Signs it is a traffic problem
- The site is clear and fast but few people see it
- You rank for your brand name and nothing else
- You have no pages for the services or cities you want to win
- Your Google Business Profile is incomplete
What to do next
If the site is the weak point, rebuild it, and when it already ranks, keep the same page addresses or redirect every old page so you don't lose what you've earned. If traffic is the weak point, add the service pages, city pages and content that bring in the right searches, and use ads to fill the gap while search grows.
Either way, test before you spend. A short conversation about your numbers will usually tell you which one it is.
