When you advertise on Facebook or Instagram you usually have two ways to capture a lead: an instant form that opens inside the app, or a landing page on your own website. Each has real strengths, and neither is always better.
What instant forms are good at
- They are quick to set up, with no website needed.
- The person never leaves the app, so there is less friction.
- Fields are pre-filled from the person's profile, which can raise volume.
The tradeoff is that pre-filled fields make it very easy to submit by accident, and the form lives inside Meta, so you don't control the experience or the data around it.
What survey landing pages are good at
- You control the questions, the order and the wording.
- Knock-out questions can screen out poor fits before they count as leads.
- You can send qualified people straight to a calendar.
- You own the page, the pixel and the server-side events.
The tradeoff is more work to build and more friction. Fewer people finish, but the ones who do are usually more serious.
Why we test both
We have seen short, survey-first landing pages outperform long, brochure-style pages, and we've seen instant forms bring in volume at a lower cost per lead. Which one wins depends on the business: the offer, the price point, how much screening matters, and how quickly the team follows up.
So we run them side by side with the same offer and compare what matters, not leads but qualified leads and sold jobs.
How to decide for your business
- If your sales team is small and time is precious, lean toward the survey lander, since screening saves hours.
- If you need volume quickly and can follow up fast, an instant form is a reasonable place to start.
- If your sales cycle is long or expensive, qualify harder.
Whichever you choose, the same rule applies: the conversion Meta learns from should be the qualified lead or the sale, not the raw submit.
How we can help
- Meta Ads Management: Facebook and Instagram ads built to bring in leads you can actually close, then trained on sold jobs, not form fills.
- Conversion Tracking: Tracking that ties your marketing to qualified leads and real sales, and feeds that back to Meta.
